MARKET COMMENTERY

Gains in index heavyweight ITC and oil and pharma sector stocks aided modest gains for key benchmark indices. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, rose 131.67 points or 0.49% at 26,917.22, as per the provisional closing data. The 50-unit CNX Nifty gained 34.05 points or 0.42% at 8,153.35, as per the provisional closing data. The Sensex failed to retain the psychological 27,000 mark after surpassing that mark in intraday trade.

STOCK BUZZ
•    Tata Motors jumped 5.74%, with the stock extending a rally registered during the previous trading session. Jaguar Land Rover North America announced on 1 October 2015 that its US sales rose 61% to 6,850 units in September 2015 over September 2014.

•    Oil exploration firms gained along with rise in crude oil prices. ONGC (up 2.85%), Cairn India (up 2.39%), Reliance Industries (RIL) (up 1.09%) and Oil India (up 1.13%) gained. Higher crude oil prices would result in higher realizations from crude sales for oil exploration firms.

HOT PURSUIT
1. Meanwhile, the finance ministry yesterday, 5 October 2015, announced that the central government's expenditure on major subsidies has come down to 1.6% of GDP in 2015-16 from 2.5% of GDP in 2012-13. There could be a shortfall of around 5% to the estimated target of tax collection of Rs 14.5 lakh crore for the current fiscal year. The government is committed to achieving this year's fiscal deficit target as well as the fiscal glide path laid out in the budget, the finance ministry said. The central government's infrastructure spending has picked-up on the back of accelerated spending on highways, railways and the power sector. The central government's Plan Cap-EX has increased by over 30% this year. This is beginning to crowd-in private investment. The public private partnership projects which had been stalled are also now picking up.

2. The finance ministry issued the statement after a press conference held by various secretaries to the Ministry of Finance and Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) Dr Arvind Subramanian on the completion of six months of financial year 2015-16 on 30 September 2015.

MARKET COMMENTERY

Telecom, oil and power sector stocks led rally for key benchmark indices. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 379.61 points or 1.47% at 26,158.27, as per provisional closing data. The 50-unit CNX Nifty was up 105.60 points or 1.35% at 7,948.90, as per provisional closing data. The Sensex provisionally settled above the psychological 26,000 mark after alternately moving above and below that level in intraday trade so far. The Sensex pierced the psychological 26,000 mark as gains in global stocks boosted sentiment on the domestic bourses a day after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) surprised financial markets by announcing a steeper-than-expected 50 basis points reduction in repo rate after a regular monetary policy review yesterday, 29 September 2015. Key indices remained in positive zone throughout the trading session.

STOCK BUZZ
•    Shares of index heavyweight and cigarette major ITC gained 2.81% to Rs 329.35 on high volume of 84.23 lakh shares. A bulk deal of 78.27 lakh shares was executed on the stock at Rs 326.85 per share at 09:57 IST on BSE today, 30 September 2015.
•    FMCG shares were in demand. Hindustan Unilever (up 3.68%), Britannia Industries (up 3.77%), Tata Global Beverages (up 1.35%), Jyothy Laboratories (up 4.29%), Nestle India (up 2.98%), Godrej Consumer Products (up 3.01%), Bajaj Corp (up 1.87%), Colgate Palmolive (India) (up 1.52%), Marico (up 2.45%), Dabur India (up 0.15%), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 0.34%) and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Health Care (up 5.16%) edged higher.

HOT PURSUIT
1. In overseas markets, European shares edged higher, with shares of automakers boosted by a Chinese tax cut on small cars while miner Glencore rallied after saying it had no solvency issues. Trading in US index futures indicated that the Dow could jump 181 points at the opening bell today, 30 September 2015. US stocks finished mostly higher yesterday, 29 September 2015, as a stronger-than-expected reading on consumer confidence and rising house prices pointed to a stronger US economy.
2. Steel stocks gained on reports that the domestic steel producers are expected to take advantage of the hike in safeguard duty and increase prices by up to Rs 1,500 per tonne. Tata Steel (up 5.84%), Jindal Steel & Power (up 3.68%), JSW Steel (up 4.14%) and Steel Authority of India (up 1.68%) edged higher. It may be recalled that the government in this month imposed a provisional safeguard duty of 20% on import of certain hot rolled flat steel products with a view to protect domestic producers from the recent surge in inward shipments from countries like China.

MARKET COMMENTERY

Key benchmark indices logged modest gains in an intensely choppy session of trade. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 122.88 points or 0.48% at 25,739.72, as per provisional closing data. The 50-unit CNX Nifty was up 47.60 points or 0.61% at 7,843.30, as per provisional closing data. The Sensex provisionally settled below the psychological 26,000 mark after hitting one week high above that level in mid-afternoon trade. Gains triggered by a steeper-than-expected rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) after its fourth bi-monthly monetary policy review for the year 2015-16 today, 29 September 2015 helped domestic bourses outpace losses caused by weak global cues.

STOCK BUZZ
Realty stocks reversed intraday fall in volatile trade after the RBI surprised the financial markets by announcing a steeper-than-expected cut in repo rate by 50 basis points to 6.75% at its fourth bi-monthly monetary policy review for the year 2015-16 today, 29 September 2015. Purchases of both residential and commercial property are largely driven by finance.
Housing Development and Infrastructure (up 9.38%), DLF (up 3.83%), Indiabulls Real Estate (up 3.65%), D B Realty (up 3.27%), Unitech (up 1.48%), Sobha (up 3.84%), and Orbit Corporation (up 1.81%) gained. Godrej Properties (down 1.79%) and Oberoi Realty (down 2.33%) declined.

HOT PURSUIT
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) surprised the financial markets by announcing a steeper-than-expected cut in the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility by 50 basis points to 6.75% at its fourth bi-monthly monetary policy review for the year 2015-16 today, 29 September 2015. The RBI has kept the cash reserve ratio (CRR) of scheduled banks unchanged at 4% of net demand and time liability (NDTL). The RBI marked down slightly the FY16 gross domestic product (GDP) growth target to 7.4% from 7.6% earlier as global growth and trade were slower than initial expectations, a continuing lack of appetite for new investment in the private sector, the constraint imposed by stressed assets on bank lending and waning business confidence. Inflation has dropped to a nine-month low in August, and despite the monsoon shortfall and the uneven distribution of seasonal rains, food inflation pressures have been contained by the government's supply-management policies, the RBI said.

In overseas markets, European equities were hovering near 2015 lows and Asian stocks dropped to 3-1/2-year as global economy worries continue to batter risk assets. Taiwan's market was closed because of Typhoon Dujuan. South Korea's market was closed for holiday. US stocks settled yesterday, 28 September 2015 at their lowest levels since late August as concerns about slowing economic growth in China and mixed domestic economic data unnerved investors.

OPTION STRATEGY

In today’s session we have seen call buying in 7800 and 7900 strike price, we may see 7900 as a strong resistance level in coming days.

HDFC 1300 and 1350 calls and puts were so active, we may see buying above 1250 level.

MARUTI 4800 calls were so active today, we may see more buying as remain above 4650.
